Ensuring safe bus travel across Cheshire East borough

On 4 June, government guidance informed us that face coverings on public transport would be mandatory from 15 June. This meant that we had to swiftly prepare and install safety information at bus stops to make sure that passengers would understand what they needed to do in order to be able to travel safely on buses. Quotes were quickly sought, and messages agreed. Posters were designed and printed and fixing kits ordered.

Meanwhile, an installation plan was drawn up so that we could ensure that all bus stops had the required information. A team then set about installing 2,300 safety posters as well as stickers advising that bus timetables were subject to frequent changes at 1,501 bus stops, bus shelters and stations/interchanges across Cheshire East in time for the 15 June deadline.

Floor markings at key bus shelters and interchanges were also installed to reinforce the social distancing message and keep passengers as safe as possible.
