Working with the Dementia Action Alliance

We recently became members of Cheshire East's Dementia Action Alliance.

Pat Hughes, our Dementia Champion, has been busy running ‘Dementia Friends’ sessions with our drivers and passenger assistants to make them aware of the needs of those living with Dementia, so that we can continue to meet all our passengers’ needs and become practising ‘Dementia Friends’.

"There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. This will soar to 2 million by 2051. 225,000 people will develop dementia this year - that’s one every three minutes - and 1 in 6 people over the age of 80 have Dementia. Sadly it's something we can't ignore and we are doing our best along with other partners, to improve the quality of life of those affected by understanding their needs and shaping our services accordingly. The work of the Dementia Action Alliance and other Dementia organisations is so important and we really want help as much as we can. We’ll be holding a ‘Dress Down Friday’ in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society on 24 November and would encourage others to do the same."
