In April, bus services across Cheshire East were revised as a result of a Supported Bus Service Review and far reaching consultation. It was recommended that a set of modifications be made to the routes consulted on in order to better reflect the needs of residents. TSS played a large part in providing intelligence to the Consultation team, putting forward a series of complex route proposals which retained day-time buses for 99 per cent of residents, whilst at the same time making required savings of over £1m.
Once the new routes had been agreed, our Contracts and Performance team set about tendering all the work and putting formal contract arrangements in place. In addition, TSS redesigned the Cheshire East Bus timetables, printing and issuing timetables to cover the new routes.
We also worked with operators to register routes with the DfT, manage route data, distribute new timetables from operators and update timetable information on the Cheshire East Council website. TSS also generated 1,146 new timetable posters which were installed at bus stops across the borough.
Cheshire East Council still invests over £2m in subsidised bus services each year and the services have been well received.
