TSS enjoys a 'beary' good day at The Teddy Bears Picnic

At the start of our partnership with The Wingate Centre, there couldn't have been a better opportunity to start TSS's engagement with the charity than to volunteer at the annual Teddy Bear's Picnic at Cholmondeley Castle. A main fundraising event in the centre's calendar, the Teddy Bears Picnic was an exciting opportunity to lend a hand in making the day a success and Sarah Tunstall, Business and Projects Manager took her family off to the event to give some much needed support.

Surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of bears, including our very own 'TSS Ted', Sarah and family manned the Teddy Tombola and Name the Giant Teddy stalls, which were popular with visiting families and stayed on to help pack away at the end of the day - anything for an ice-cream! Sarah said "We all found the day enjoyable and very rewarding, it was great to be outdoors and see so many families enjoying their Sunday in the sun and taking part in all the fun activities available.

The Wingate Centre put on a fantastic range of stalls and entertainment for all families to get involved with - ourselves included, with Ivy our Miniature Dachshund taking 'Best in Show' in the dog competition". As you can see from the photo below, all the excitement was a little too much for Ivy, but she wasn't short of finding a teddy to take a well deserved rest on!

Molly Sehné, Marketing Assistant and her mum also went along to The Teddy Bears Picnic to help set up for the event. The weather was glorious and the buzz of the volunteers preparing for the event was really motivating - the tea and coffee stand did help with the early morning rise too! It was great to see volunteers working together with the shared aim of ensuring everyone who attended the event would have a really enjoyable family day out at Cholmondeley Castle.

Senior Driver, Stuart Cann and Monitoring Officer, Neil Ennion were on hand to deliver equipment and teddies to and from Cholmondeley Castle on one of our minibuses. They certainly had a few funny looks from passers by as the passengers on the bus looked very much like teddy bears!

The Teddy Bears Picnic is an event that people of all ages can enjoy. Keep and eye out for the date of the event - I am sure that you'll have a fun-filled, memorable day.
